How the ADA check works

What gets tested

Pages on this website load in a frame and are checked the way assistive technology experiences them: the rendered color contrast of every text element, whether every link and button shows keyboard focus, labels, alt text, headings, landmarks, popups, PDFs and 30 automated checks against WCAG 2.2 AA.

Courts typically use WCAG 2.1 AA as the benchmark for ADA website cases. WCAG 2.2 AA is its stricter successor, so passing here covers both.

How it's scored

Each check is weighted by how badly it blocks people. Any WCAG A or AA violation holds the score at 69 or below, because a single barrier can lock a customer out and support a claim. Items that need human judgment are flagged for review, not counted as violations.

Results are then compared with the nine barriers plaintiffs cite most often in ADA website lawsuits.

What automation can't see

Automated checks find only part of all accessibility problems. A clean result means no detectable violations, not a certified compliant site. Keyboard-only and screen reader testing through menus, popups and checkout are still required.
